"Childhood memories are precious to everyone because those are the most joyous and carefree days. Each one of us has nostalgic memories of childhood tucked away in the scrapbook of our mind. Cartoon shows have major contribution to everyone’s childhood and along with passing years even the cartoon shows have evolved. Cartoon characters were introduced from comic books and slowly have taken over the television. Elementary school days not only included lunchables but also included watching our favorite cartoon shows. Some of the best cartoons are now played on".
Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.
Right after school only thing to make the mind rest and feel carefree for a child is to watch favorite cartoon shows. It brings out best of laughs from every child. Those were the shows that taught me about friendship and amazing sitcom period for children. I will always be thankful for being blessed with unique and funny cartoon characters that we will forever remember.
Rudyard Kipling’s “The jungle book” was a sensation of its time. The fictional character and the protagonist Mowgli- the naked feral child of Indian origin who survives in the deep Indian jungle became one of the most loved characters. Rudyard’s this very interesting book made everyone’s childhood imaginative and adventurous. Lost by his parents as a baby in the Indian jungle during a tiger attack, he is adopted by the Wolf Mother (Raksha) and Father Wolf, who call him Mowgli (frog) because of his lack of fur and his refusal to sit still. Sher Khan the tiger demands that they give him the baby but the wolves refuse. Mowgli grows up with the pack, hunting with his brother wolves. In the pack, Mowgli learns he is able to stare down any wolf, and his unique ability to remove the painful thorns from the paws of his brothers is deeply appreciated as well. Bagheera, the black panther, befriends Mowgli because both he and Mowgli have parallel childhood experiences; as Bagheera often mentions, he was "raised in the King's cages at Oodeypore" from a cub, and thus knows the ways of man. Baloo the bear, teacher of wolves, has the thankless task of educating Mowgli in "The Law of the Jungle".
The defeat of Sher khan and Mowgli being the hero of the jungle taught children that evil is always defeated in the end. This from a book developed to series and movie with passing time and yet everyone watch it with keen interest. Also every person goes back to good memorial childhood days on the very famous song “Jungle Jungle Pata Chala Hai” of the jungle book.
The very famous and the precursor to Marvel Comics which was founded in 1939 by pulp magazine publisher Martin Goodman is every generation’s favorite. Superhero characters introduced by Marvel Comics during the early 1960s, including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, and the X-Men became electrifying for everyone and as growing up best memory about fantasy world of super heroes. The common topic which can be discussed by every generation initiates from here. These stories came forth not only as fantasy but came along with realistic approach. Stories also began to deal with social issues such as pollution, race relations, and drug abuse like a Spider-Man story Arc from 1971 dealing with drug abuse.
The X-Men franchise became one of Marvel’s best sellers. In the 21st century Marvel’s featured their most popular characters and from the production of a string of commercially successful movies. The characters individually had become famous and created blockbuster movies following with its shows. They have inspired and bought collective joy to our childhood and have yet been continuing to entertain children and elders by bringing new kick in individual’s favorite characters. The fancy dress competition in schools or be it Halloween, the famous icons left a mark on individual.
Everyone gets excited to get into a suit of a hero, who doesn’t?
Growing up I was jealous of Dexter because I wanted a secret laboratory as well. We watched as this boy-genius invented extraordinary things and how he struggled to keep his sister Dee Dee out of his laboratory. Watching this show feels like watching a child’s imagination come to life. That’s kind of magical.
No discussion on cartoon is complete without a reference to Walt Disney and his contributions. During the early 1930s animation seemed to be divided into two factions:
Walt Disney and “everyone else.” Mickey Mouse’s popularity had established the animated character into the ranks of the most popular screen personalities in the world, ranking alongside Charlie Chaplin. For a while it seemed that everything Disney touched was successful. T&J is still perhaps the most loved of all animated cartoons. There are other equally famous and popular comic strips and animated cartoons like Donald Duck, Tom and Jerry, Tarzan only to name a few. What can I say about Tom and Jerry? One of my first cartoons ever, a classic that I'll never forget about. Tom and Jerry, American animated cartoon series about a hapless cat’s never ending pursuit of a clever mouse. I’m sure everyone laughed till their stomach hurt by the mad chase of Tom never succeeding to catch hold of notorious Jerry.
Even today children are bewitched with cartoons; they are not the same as before but with more exciting varieties and options. Every youngster’s favourite Japanese series “Shin Chan” follows the adventures of a five-year-old along with his parents, baby sister, dog, friends and neighbours. The show started in 1992 and is still ongoing on several television networks, worldwide almost every child’s favourite cartoon show to watch till the present date. Many of the jokes in the series stem from Shin-chan's occasionally weird, unnatural and mischievous behaviour. Some other humorous themes which are repeated in the series are of a more universal nature, such as gags based on physical comedy (such as eating snow with chopsticks) or, as a child, unexpectedly using adult speech pattern and mannerism. Along with the show it has its very famous introduction song which is so much fun to sing. Shin-chan regularly becomes besotted with pretty female characters that are much older than him, and an additional source of humour is derived from his childlike attempts at wooing these characters. The show brings different energy in the kids when they watch it and also brings nostalgic laughter amongst everyone.
Children are fond of cartoons and as they grow their flavour for cartoon character changes. Doremon is the most favourite cartoon charter for many kids. The story revolves around Doraemon using one of the gadgets to assist Nobita in various ways. The show has interesting charters like a ''Blue robot cat with no ears – called Doremon'', another is Nobita who is the friend of Doremon, Sheuzuka friend of Nobita, Giyan and Suneo. Nobita is a young boy who suffers from poor grades, frequent bullying and negative emotions like sadness and jealousy. Many years in the future, one of his descendants sends the robotic cat Doraemon back in time to protect and guide Nobita.
Doraemon has a four-dimensional pocket in which he stores innumerable items known as gadgets, which range from toys and medicine to technology from the future. Many kids love watching Doremon and is one of their favorite shows. The show is not fully entertainment purpose but also teaches that ‘friends in need are friends indeed’. The character Nobita is very lazy. Although he has good intensions to use the gadgets, however every time it creates problems to other his best friend Doremon is at his rescue.
My Thought
To think back of all the favourite cartoons which increased my happiness as a child I feel so thankful and blessed. Recalling as to why those days were so enjoyable takes me to my innocent growing up moments full fun characters to watch. Everyone has the same level of joy when it comes to cartoon as it becomes a common platform to talk about imperishable memory on each one’s childhood. We got very basic yet beautiful learning about the heroes, and the learning is that good prevails over the evil; therefore, always stand for right and fight against the wrong and evil
