“Meat on a Dessert? That is not possible!” This is one of the memorable lines quoted by Ross Geller, a fictional character of the most popular U.S. television situation comedy called F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The role was portrayed by David Schwimmer, an American actor, director activist, and producer. He was born in Flushing, Queens, New York City on November 2, 1966.

The above-mentioned quote very well defines David’s own life of how a person cannot fit into a place where he isn’t meant to be. It is only by following your inbuilt desire and passions that can help you excel in the specific field. If you get influenced by what others say and don’t follow your heart then you cannot be successful, since it would be a burden on you.

So, we must do what we enjoy doing. When David Schwimmer’s family moved to Beverly Hills, he attended Beverly Hills High School, where he himself admitted to being an outsider in this school.

He himself quoted, “This is not me, I am surrounded by people with a different value system. And I just wanted to get out of California”.

He was best at subjects of science and mathematics and thought he would become a doctor but his heart was somewhere else, and we all know where. He began his acting career by performing in a school plays at Beverly Hills High School. After confronting his desire for acting, he flew to Chicago to Northwestern University, where he attended a summer drama course at the age of just 16. He followed his heart and studied theatre at Northwestern University. After graduating in 1988, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and speech, he co-founded the Looking glass Theatre Company and thereafter, returned to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

He made his supporting role debut in the ABC television movie, “A Deadly Silence” (1989). In 1994, he made the appearance on screen as Ross Geller in NBC’s situation comedy F.R.I.E.N.D.S., which turned out to be a great achievement in his acting career. He played the role of a hopeless romantic, Palaeontologist who works at a museum. He received strong reviews for his acting and earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” in 1995.

He started his first leading film role in 1996 romantic comedy the film, “The Pallbearer” and made his directional feature debut with a British Comedy film, “Run Fat Boy Run”.
