Twenty-one years have been the witness of Women National Basketball Association (WNBA) championship where women paved their ways through the path of success in the field of sports with great determination and diligence. Eight titles teams have marked their presence in the WNBA’s – 21st season book and flipping the pages, one can go through the league’s history showing multiple periods of dominance over the past two decades.

This league kicked off in Houston which has been unstoppable since the team won the league’s first four championships behind the Big Three of Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes and Tina Thompson. However, breaking the legacy of Houston’s back to back playoffs, the Los Angeles Sparks ended up in Comet’s reign and brought back to back titles to their homes behind MVP Lisa Leslie and Co.

This basketball team based in Seattle, Washington has been home to many international players. Seattle Storm won in the WNBA Finals in the years 2004, 2010 and 2018. This team crumpled up having the worst record in WNBA after which the storm was silenced by the MVP Breanna Stewart who emerged as one of the young rising stars in the league. She also won Rookie of the year and broke the record for most defensive rebounds in a regular season.


2.     Minnesota Lynx

This professional basketball team grabbed the WNBA title in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. The lynx qualified the WNBA playoffs in 11 out of 21 years winning 4 championships and winning more Western Conference Championships than any other franchise. Clinching the WNBA title, this franchise was led by the two-time defensive player of the year Sylvia Fowles defeating the competitor to win their fourth championship in seven seasons. 



3.     Los Angeles Sparks

MVP-Candace Parker


Another team to emerge victorious on the glorious path of WNBA championship-winning the title thrice in 2001, 2002 and 2016 beating Charlotte, New York and Minnesota. Sparks have been a focal point of the league since its inaugural while it won its third big title in 2016 with 26-8 record consisting of MVP Candace Parker. The team found its big break last in the same year after 2002.
