The six-time world champion MC Mary Kom surpassed herself as
the most successful boxer in the Women’s World Championships’ history. The
legendary woman secured a miraculous eighth medal by advancing (51KG)
semi-finals in Russia.

Mary Kom came out of the rings triumphantly defeating unrivalled Colombia’s Valencia Victoria clinging on the medal with unanimous 5-0 verdict to make the last four-stage. This prudent performance swayed the crowd gushing across the rings when Mary Kom long after waiting for her chance, defended sharply with agility and threw in more and more punches.
This prominent champion swung her right arm like a master to connect well-placed hooks. The effective punches that went straight left everyone gazing while the punch pierced through Victoria’s strong defence.

Entering the semi-finals on Saturday, Mary Kom would be standing opposite the second-seeded Turk Busenaz Cakiroglu who has been the reigning European Champion and European Games gold medallist. Cakirgolu has been regarded as defeating China’s Cai Zongju in her quarterfinal bout.
