7 Eco- friendly inventions in technology that save us!

Environmental consciousness has been growing since the industrial revolution and a frenzied search for developing green technologies has begun. Throughout the years of technology bearing integrated control over the green methods, many inventions have occurred that have made our lives more sustainable.

Inventions like solar power pack, digital paper, bio-home stove etc. have taken a surge in rising above the neck level in search for environmental inventions.  Inventions by inventors and entrepreneurs have helped in saving the planet from degrading.

Green technology’s primary aim is to conserve the use of energy and natural resources and promote the usage of renewable resources. The importance of eco-friendly inventions cannot be ignored and clearly, it does not take a rocket scientist to say that mankind is supposed to do something about the clean environment and saving energy resources.

Energy, environment and economy are the three main pillars of green technology enhancing its contribution to the national economy. These technologies have met the needs of people in a way that it neither damages nor depletes natural resource focussing more on reclamation and reusing.

These technical inventions benefit the planet because they do not emit anything that is menacing to lives and requires very less maintenance. Its major advantage is that it slows down the global warming effect.

    Electric Cars

Electric vehicles are the automobiles powered by electricity have many benefits over the normal internal combustion engine automobiles. The electric cars have shown a significant decrease in air pollution and provide high power to weight ratio. Faraday, a well-known scientist for research and innovation in the field of electrochemistry focussed on producing an electric supercar with a 1000 horsepower engine. Electric cars have emerged to be energy efficient with efficiency above 69%.

 Avani Eco-friendly bags

Bio green bags have been a major source of eco-friendly approach since plastics have long been the scourge of environmentalists. A major focus has been shed upon plastic since it is a non-biodegradable product that takes more than 100 years to decompose. Epidemic use of non-biodegradable plastics has choked the planet and it has been a necessity to come up with eco-friendly ideas. National Academy of Sciences did a survey and the researchers found that 15-40% of plastic waste ends up floating in the ocean. Every year loads of plastic gets washed up on the shore which is indeed a sore to the eyes and pollution for the marine life. An entrepreneur from Bali, Kevin Kumala came up with a solution to this problem. He created these specialised biodegradable bags from cassava which is a starchy and tropical root grown as a farm crop. This material is tough, edible and easily compostable. He also demonstrated the safety of these bags by dissolving the bags into hot water and drinking it.  His organisation has taken care of coming up with more bio-degradable products like containers and straws made from sugar cane and corn starch.

  Solar Energy

Solar energy is the oldest form of eco-friendly energy that has been there for ages. This form of energy saves and rejuvenates the trust in the green energy source. It is one of the important sources of renewable energy that mostly uses photovoltaic systems and concentrated solar power to enhance power. First commercial adaptation of solar energy was in 1878 when Augustin Mouchot successfully demonstrated a solar steam engine and later technology came up with water heating, cooling and ventilation that augmented cooking, processing heat and water treatment using solar energy. Earth receives 174 PW of incoming solar radiation at the upper atmosphere which can be stored and used as a sustainable resource for generating electricity and for various other technological inventions.

Oceanic Array

Tons of plastic waste ends up in the ocean every year which is nothing but plain trash. Various efforts for cleaning up all that trash has been a challenge because huge ships are required to sail and clean up the waste floating above. This is followed with an idea by a Dutch student who is 22 year-old named Boyan Slat who created the design of Oceanic cleanup array.  This oceanic array is anchored to the sea bed of the ocean and it collects all the trash inside. This technological design won him the prize for Best Technical Design at the Delft University of Technology.

Slat further visions of establishing the Oceanic Cleanup Project while procuring hefty investments.

  Hydro Power

Hydropower is a power generated by running water and this offers a huge array of benefits in today’s world to provide energy. It is primarily fuelled by water hence it is considered to be a clean source of energy which doesn’t pollute the environment.  This domestic source of energy does not rely on international fuel source but it solely depends on the water cycle driven by the sun making it a renewable power source. Many hydro-powers have been created with massive reservoirs offering a variety of recreational opportunities like fishing and boating. Hydropower plants generate ethical power to the grid immediately providing important back-up power during electricity cuts or disruptions. In addition to these advantages, hydro powers benefit mankind by controlling flood, irrigation and water supply.

 Eco-friendly plant lamps

For people who have been working or living in a windowless space, a good amount of oxygen adds up vitality in the surrounding. Nui Design studio has come up with this idea of designing this eco-friendly lamp that provides a completely self-sustaining ecosystem to the plants to grow undisturbed for years. This lamp provides an artificial light source which is one of the essential elements a plant needs to grow.

 Bio Gas

One of the sustainable resources for cooking is biogas. Biogas is a system that converts all the organic waste into cooking gas and fertilizer for the garden. This system can convert almost all the organic waste into gas be it raw materials like agriculture waste, sewage, green waste or food waste. Biogas is compressible and can also be used in a motor vehicle which is why it is said to be a renewable resource. Its production and use cycle does not generate carbon dioxide.

These Eco-friendly inventions have brought a noticeable change in our daily lives by balancing the resources with consumption. It has remarkably helped to save the world and to sustain life by urging us to live the green life.
