Breaking the gender stereotypes, women in our country have emerged beautifully throughout the ages everywhere. Be it sports, entertainment, politics or business these women have boldly and fearlessly followed their ambitions without any boundaries.

Girls have been breaking grounds to hold equal status as men. These women came, won and ruled over the headlines making the nation proud. The previous year had been the year that brought immense honour to our nation with these women who put themselves first and at forefront unapologetically.

These acts of courage and determination held by the ordinary women of our nation play a very extraordinary role in the history of India.

1.     Mithali Raj


The Indian women’s cricket team made it up to the ICC Women’s World cup finale with Mithali Raj being the pillar and the captain of the team. She made the nation proud by becoming the cricketer with the most number of T20I runs. The team won hearts that encouraged them to play well.

2.     Hima Das


Also known as ‘Dhing Express’ Hima broke the national record in 400m race  at the World U20 with time 50.75s  and became an overnight sensation by bagging the position of India’s first-ever woman track-and-field world champion at any level.

3.     Kiran Mazumdar- Shaw


The eminent figure behind finding the Bitcoin is the only self-made Indian woman billionaire with a net worth of 360 Crores USD. She is ranked at 629 in Forbes billionaires 2018 and at rank 72 in Forbes most powerful women in 2017.

4.     Deepika Padukone


Deepika Padukone’s movie Padmaavat entered the 500 crore club and earned up to Rs112.80 crore. She became the first-ever celebrity to enter amongst top 5 in Forbes richest Indians list.

5.     MC Mary Kom


World champion 35-year-old boxer, Mary Kom retained the tag of the championship for the 6th time in her gleaming career by magnificently winning gold in her debut at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She has inspired boxers all over the world by matching Cuban men’s legend Felix Savon as the joint-most successful pugilist in the World Championships’ history.

6.     Priyanka Chopra


Priyanka has saved her seat for one of the biggest icons of Indian cinema as an actor, singer, producer and UNICEF ambassador. From Bollywood to Hollywood, she has not only made India proud earlier by being Miss World but, she also successfully featured in the Forbes’ list of the most powerful women for the second time. Making the country proud in every sphere and every field, she also became the first Indian to be featured on Vogue US cover.

7.     Manushi Chhillar


The 20-year-old medical student belonging to Haryana bagged the Miss World crown after 7 years. Manushi conquered the World by winning people’s heart and now she aspires of working for communities.

8.     Avani Chaturvedi


The field of Indian Air Force dominated by men all this while has been marked by 24-year-old Avani Chaturvedi being the first a female fighter pilot on February 22, 2018. She also became the first Indian woman to fly a fighter jet solo.

9.    Nishta Dudheja


Nishta from Haryana won Miss and Mister Deaf World Pageant being the first-ever Indian to win it. Before that, she was crowned at Miss Deaf Asia 2018.  She also used to play Judo and represented India in International Tennis competitions. She is an inspiration for all those deaf people who can go beyond the expectations.

10.  INS Tarini


The 6 women Navy crew of INS Tarini undertook the global voyage and circumnavigated back to the homeland on May 21, 2018. President Ram Nath Kovind awarded them with Nari Shakti Puraskar for their excellent bravery and for empowering women.

11. Usha Kiran


Usha Kiran became the youngest woman CRPF officer of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) that is proficient in guerrilla tactics and jungle warfare. She bravely served the Naxal region of Bastar, Chattisgarh.
