It’s Kamal Haasan’s 65th birthday who imprinted his favourite tag in fans’ hearts by working with Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali film industries. Initially, this man who struggled to pave his career in the industry appeared in minor non-credited roles in a number of films in Indian cinema.

He made his first major debut with K Balachander’s 1973 release Arangetram playing the protagonist while Time Magazine rated his 1987 film Nayagan as one of the finest films in cinema’s history. Sadma


This film by Balu Mahendra portrayed a sensitive bond between a teacher Somu played excellently by Kamal Haasan and Reshmi, amazingly pulled off by Sridevi. Reshmi suffered from retrograde amnesia in this movie but unfortunately, this movie failed to become a commercial success during the release. It became a cult classic though, which was admired by the audience.

Ek Duuje Ke Liye


Haasan’s Bollywood debut sparked fire from this instance by creating this masterpiece. Ek Duuje Ke Liye was labelled as a blockbuster starred by Rati Agnihotri. It later received critic’s appreciation after release. This masterpiece won a National award and three Filmfare awards.

Saagar


Saagar was a romantic comedy film directed by Ramesh Sippy because of which Kamal Haasan won a Filmfare award for Best Actor. This movie was chosen by India as its official entry for 58th Academy Award under the Best Foreign Language film category limelight.

Vishwaroopam


This movie earned well in the box office which was written, directed, produced and acted by Kamal Haasan only in the lead role. This espionage thriller that released in 2013 garnered positive reviews at the time of release.
