The big news splurging undivided attention from across the
world is set to tap America’s shale gas bonanza. PM Modi is scheduled to
address more than 50,000 people at a sold-out event at Houston’s NRG Stadium
billed by organizers on September 22nd. This is going to be the
biggest ever turnout for a foreign elected leader on US soil.
Modi’s imminent visit to the US energy capital has garnered
speculations from the second most populous nation after his last meeting with
US President Donald Trump at the G7 Summit in France.
Washington-Beijing
disputes
This has brought together the energy investors who have
sincerely concentrated on what agenda the event would thrive with. Behind the
scenes of this event are so nerved because already it has been known
that the trade wars between Washington and Beijing since the history implied
alleviation of American imports from China since February. This conflict will
simply initiate further risks of new export terminal plans.
India-6th
largest buyer
However, India has been the sixth-largest buyer of US
liquefied natural gas and is yet open to bring about new deals with the nation.
Charlie Riedi, executive director of the Centre for Liquefied Natural Gas
applauds India’s commitment to constantly being there and said that it has the
potential to become an enormous market for US gas.
"Based on the broader aspiration to move people out of energy
poverty and to enhance manufacturing, this all points to emerging
opportunities” said Charlie.
This event
branded as ‘Howdy Modi’ is a gathering that would outstretch for roughly three
hours amidst 50,000 Indian-Americans who are also potential voters for
President Trump.
Organisers
Howdy
Modi event is being organised by a non-profit Texas India Forum established
recently as a representative body of hundreds of American organisations in
Texas and various other parts of the US.
‘Special gesture’ tweet by Narendra
Modi
The event also fuelled a lot of discussions after PM Narendra Modi tweeted on Trump
joining him at ‘Howdy Modi’ event. The new bonhomie in the US-India ties under
Trump administration, for the first time leaders of the two largest democracies, are
set to address a joint rally in the world. This news sparked after Narendra
Modi on Monday took to twitter calling this meeting a ‘special gesture’ yet to
take place at Houston on September 22. He also added that the move is an
indicator of the ‘special friendship between India and USA’ and he has been
looking forward to welcoming US president at the event.
This
would also be the first time an American president would address thousands of
Indian-Americans at one spot in the US. This request was first initiated by PM
Narendra Modi to President Trump after they last met at the G-7 summit on the
sidelines of France. This event would further be tagged as Modi’s third major
address to the Indian-Americans after becoming the PM in 2014.
Honourable presence
A delegation of Governors, members of the Congress, mayors
and other public officials, including the first American-Hindu Congresswoman
Tulsi Gabbard and Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi would also be
present at the event while the Senior Democratic Congressman Steny Hoyer is
expected to join PM Modi and President Trump on the same day.
