The Frankfurt Motor Show observed the unveiling of Japanese
automaker’s production-ready electrical vehicle. Honda also released the first
official images of its new electric vehicle Honda E ahead of its summer launch.
The entire line-up till 2025 of this zero-emission car is a fragment of the
Japanese plan to go for electrical strategies.
This is Honda’s first mass-marketing, production-ready
version is based on Urban EV concept that made its debut in 2017 and was also
showcased at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. However, the pre-production version was
displayed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show which created stanchions in revealing
its details and specifications which are now known after the final debut.
Next-gen
urban mobility
The carmakers firmly stated that this new vehicle is meant
for next-generation urban mobility with its eye striking exterior, minimalist
interior with a combination of advanced technology. It highlights a rear-wheel
drive platform equipped with Honda Personal Assistant technology using
Artificial Intelligence. This technology runs to form a contextual engagement
with the users.
SPECIFICATIONS
Battery
The 35.5kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery fitted in the vehicle offers the electric motor in two power outputs (136PS and 154PS) and
the apex Torque is equal to 315Nm. The electrical function of the car can
ideally go up to 100kmph in around 8 seconds. The range of the small EV gauges
till 220km which takes only 30 minutes to charge from zero by CCS2 DC charger
i.e. the Combined Charging System. Nevertheless, its low range compared to other
EVs, this vehicle is intended for inter-city commutes.
Exterior
It is packed with a pop-out door handle at its exterior and
the key comes with digital functions. Honda e comes with the coolest design
with a three-door layout and fancy wheels. The conventional side-view mirrors
are replaced with compact cameras that are a boon in terms of styling, safety,
aerodynamics and refinement.
Interior
Interior of this car is loaded with dual 12.3 inch LCD touch
screen infotainment panel while space is like a living room environment.
The digital technology is equipped with an 8.8-inch screen acting as the
driver’s instrument cluster. It also comes with features like charging point
navigation, climate control and vehicle condition reports.
PRICE
The Honda e 134-hp spec is set to begin at £26,160 (approximately €29,470/$32,300), with the
more powerful priced at £28,660 (about €32,180/$35,300). Customers can make a prior reservation by ordering online in the UK, Germany, France and Norway while
the vehicle is set to ship later in summer 2020.
