Harry Potter: Why We’ll Always Re-Visit The Potter world

The novels and the movies are about a young wizard, named Harry Potter who studies at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Together, they fight against Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who intends to become immortal, overthrow the wizard governing body (Ministry of Magic) and rule over the wizards as well as muggles (the non-magic folk).

“After All This Time?” “Always”

Harry Potter! You all are familiar with the name as you may have seen the movies or read the best-selling books in history. You would have a friend who is a Harry Potter fan (there are loads of them!) or you would yourself be what a Harry Potter fan is called, “A Potterhead” (which we assume you are)

This story never gets old, no matter how many times we have already watched the highest-grossing franchise or finished the fantasy novels. The problem is, by the time we finish, we wish to relive the epic journey all over again. And every time we pick up the books or watch one of the films, the great thing is, we notice something new out of it. Even if we grow old and wrinkly, we Potterheads never get bored of this amazing series and it would always have a special place in our hearts.

Here are some of the reasons why we’ll revisit the Wizarding World

To Meet Our Favorite Characters Again

Meeting the Weasley family for the first time (or the tenth first-time) gives us immense pleasure. Seeing how Ron has Harry’s back with his awesome one-liners or being astonished yet again by Hermione’s knowledge of the Wizarding World, even after being a Muggle-born (whose parents are non-magical, come on) is blissful.

How Albus Dumbledore gains our respect and trust from the first glance or how greasy and evil Professor Snape proves to be (although we come to love him by the end of the series). Every time we see our favorite movie on our TV or computer screen, we are scared to death by Professor McGonagall and Draco Malfoy never fails to amuse us with his ferret-skills (no offense Draco!).

Indulging in a little time with the characters and appreciating their wit is sometimes all we need. These moments will stay with us forever, indeliberately printed in our minds.

You think the dead we loved truly ever leave us? You think that we don’t recall them more clearly in times of great trouble?

Details that We Missed Last Time

The story started with a skinny boy with broken glasses living in the cupboard under the stairs and finished with a young wizard defeating the darkest wizard of all time, making sacrifices on his way. It is all there in the eight movies and seven books for us to obsess over to our heart’s content.

However, J.K. Rowling’s well-crafted novel has secret messages and hidden meanings for us to find. The fifth time you find out the meaning of a character’s name and on the tenth, you compare the differences between the movies. You notice there are some dialogues in the movies that are changed from the novel but still manage to give us goosebumps. Even if you connect the dots early, you manage to stay oblivious till the end to the fact that the family Dobby serves, is the Malfoys in Chamber of Secrets.

Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.

Re-Enact Our Favorite Scenes

Whether it’s the fourth time or the eighteenth, we are never able to stop ourselves from repeating some of the dialogues. “It’s Levi-O-Sa, not Levi-O-Sar” or even better, “Now, if you two don’t mind, I am going to bed before either one of you comes up with another clever idea to get us killed, or worse, EXPELLED.”It doesn’t matter that we are muggles, we still perform the summoning charm, Accio or the illuminating spell, Lumos (but obviously and unfortunately, they don’t work). During our exams, we wish to have a Remembrall, a ball that helps in remembering by producing red smoke inside itself, or Auto-Answer Quills. In Order of the Phoenix, we agree and feel Harry’s frustration wholeheartedly and something like, “Yeah Harry, everyone is stupid” crosses our mind. But of course, we don’t want to go to Azkaban, the wizard prison, by performing the torturing curse (Crucio) or even, the killing curse (Avada Kedavra) if someone annoys us. Of course, it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on Earth should that mean it’s not real?

It is Comforting and the Ultimate Escape

Immersing ourselves in the Wizarding World is the best escape from our day-to-day life. Many of us grew up watching or reading Harry Potter and it reminds us of our childhood. We learned lessons of loyalty, forgiveness, joy, and heartbreak alongside our favorite characters in the corridors of Hogwarts. It is comforting and always welcomes us with open arms. We feel as if we are stuck in the muggle world and lon to go through Platform Nine and Three Quarters, travel in Hogwarts Express, enjoying Bertie Botts Every-Flavor Beans (or “something off the trolley, dears”) and study in Hogwarts. We wish to get sorted into one of the houses (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin) and get selected in the Quidditch team. We wish to choose a wand or as believed by Ollivander, get chosen by a wand.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light

This is a journey we know inside out. We have analyzed the story over and over again, yet, coming back to it is like saying hello to an old friend. It is spellbinding and re-visiting the Potter world is how the magic is kept alive. We owe our thanks to J.K. Rowling, who has given us a world of mysteries, lessons, dreams, and wishes.

We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.
